Support Programs at SHCS

Sacred Heart Catholic School offers a range of programs that support the students and their families.

Learning Support

SHCS has a comprehensive learning support program that supports students with learning difficulties and other challenges. The school also employs an Aboriginal Teacher Assistant to facilitate programs for indigenous students.

School Counselling

Sacred Heart has an experienced and highly qualified school counsellor that works onsite one day week.  Mrs Robyn Evans facilitates a range of programs as well as working with individual students and their families.

Parish/School Pastoral Associate

Mrs Eva Dunn works in the school to build the relationship between the school and the local Parish and wider community.  Mrs Dunn assists with the Religious Education programs and works with teams to plan the monthly Parish Mass. Mrs Dunn also facilitates the Rainbows Program and our Junior Joeys Leadership Program.

Rainbows Program

The Rainbows program is a small group program that is facilitated by a trained staff member that assists students that have experienced some form of loss – death of a loved one, family separation, etc.. It is ran over a ten week period with students of a similar age.

Cool Kids Program

Our School Counsellor, Mrs Robyn Evans facilitates a Cool Kids Program with students that experience anxiety.  The parents of the students also have regular meetings with Robyn for support and guidance. The program is for middle to upper primary students.

Get Lost Mr Scary

Our Counsellor facilitates ‘Get lost Mr Scary’ for 5-7 years olds that experience anxiety. This is a small group that gathers for a ten week program.

Better Buddies Program

Our Grade 5/6 Team work collaboratively with the Prep class to run the Better Buddies Program, which aims to support the younger students in the school by building relationships with our school leaders.  The students meet once a week to work through some very structured activities.

Making Jesus Real – MJR

The MJR program has been fully implemented across the school. MJR is a program that supports the spiritual development of all students.

Circle Time

Circle Time is a structured framework for social and emotional learning and promoting team ethos. It has powerful potential to reduce bullying, increase resilience, explore values and improve communication skills.  All teams at SHCS have a CIRCLE once week where teachers plan a range of activities around a particular topic – eg welcoming new class members, saying sorry, feeling scared, etc..


DANCEFEVER is a curriculum based dance program that is taught from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in third term.  It assists the students with their coordination and their confidence.

Perceptual Motor Program

Our Kindergarten and Prep students participate daily in a gross motor program in the school hall that aims to improve their coordination, gross motor, fine motor and flexibility skills.
